Aggregate delivery across Texas

Free delivery across Texas, including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin and Fort Worth.

Stone commonly used in Texas includes limestone, caliche and river gravel. Orders are delivered by dump truck to jobs from the Hill Country, the Gulf Coast and the Edwards Plateau, with delivery included in the price.

Common projects here include caliche ranch roads, flex base pads and French drains through black gumbo clay. Expansive clay across the I-35 corridor moves several inches a year with moisture. Base depth and drainage away from the slab matter far more here than frost ever will. Frost goes to about 6 inches in Texas, so plan base depth around it.

If your project follows an engineering or road-agency spec, compare it with the size and grading listed on each product page.

Most base work in this state is not scheduled off a calendar. It is scheduled off the last hard rain and the next one. Clay that has been soaking for a week will pump under a loaded truck, and clay that has been baking since June opens cracks wide enough to lose a tape measure in. Gravel delivery goes best when you order into the dry window between those two states of the ground, with the material settled and the tonnage already worked out. The catalogue below is grouped the way the work is: base rock, washed stone, heavy stone, path material, sand and soil.

Base rock, and what a Texas plan sheet is asking for

Base material here is specified as flexible base under TxDOT Item 247, called out by type and grade, and Grade 1 and Grade 2 are the grades on most commercial sheets. That is how the material gets described locally, not a designation this storefront holds. On the product list it is named plainly: Flex Base, one inch minus, a graded mix of crushed stone, gravel and binding fines. Those fines are the reason it compacts into one layer instead of staying a pile of rock.

Crusher Run is the crushed limestone base that drives and pads get built and rebuilt with, limestone being the rock most base material in this state comes from. Driveway Gravel is the three-quarter inch surfacing course for a lane that already has something firm underneath it, and Fill Dirt is the caliche-type material for raising a low pad before any base goes down.

Washed stone for rain that arrives all at once

Rain here does not trickle. A Gulf Coast system or a Hill Country thunderhead can drop more water in two hours than a trench drain sees in a month, and clay has nowhere to put it. Open-graded stone keeps that water moving: #57 Limestone at 3/16 to 1 inch for French drains, slab-edge runs and concrete work; #67 Stone a size down at a quarter to three-quarter inch; Drain Rock washed free of fines for wall backfill and downspout runs; and #4 Crushed Stone at 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches where a construction entrance or a trench bottom has to stay open under wheels.

Stone heavy enough to stay put when the runoff comes

Flash runoff off a slope, a creek bank or a stock tank edge carries away anything it can lift. RipRap starts at four inches and runs up from there for banks, channels and culvert outfalls. Large River Rock at two to four inches suits dry creek beds and water features that also have to look finished. Texas River Rock at one to three inches fills decorative beds and borders in tans, grays and browns.

Paths, patios and the sand that sets them

Pea Gravel is the rounded three-eighths inch stone for play areas and patios. Walkway Gravel is crushed at the same size, so it holds a curve through planting beds better than rounded stone does. Under pavers, Stone Screenings screed flat over the compacted base and Mason Sand sets the units and fills the joints. Washed Sand is the coarser material for bedding, trench backfill and mixing.

Soil and mulch on ground that shrinks in August

Black gumbo clay grows grass badly and drains worse. Top Soil is screened and balanced for lawns, sod and bed prep over it. Garden Soil is the compost-enriched blend for raised planters and vegetables. Shredded Mulch goes down at two to four inches to hold moisture and shade roots once the heat settles in for the summer.

Gravel delivery, from the checkout ZIP to a marked drop spot

Work the quantity first. The material calculator turns length, width and depth into cubic yards and tons using each product's published weight, and that weight matters more than people expect: a cubic yard of shredded mulch runs about 600 lb, a cubic yard of crusher run about 3,000 lb. Same volume, five times the load on the truck.

Then choose the product from the full catalogue, set your quantity and date, and enter the delivery ZIP at checkout, which is where delivery gets arranged. Before the truck turns in, mark the drop with a cone or a flag and keep the route to it clear, overhead included. The material comes off as a pile at the spot you marked. If you want a second opinion on material or depth first, send the measurements through the contact form, or read the delivery notes before you pick a date. The ordering questions page takes what usually comes up next, and who is behind this storefront sets out what happens between checkout and the truck.
